It’s pretty incredible that the What’s New, Scooby-Doo? theme was created for a kids’ cartoon, because it comes across like a full-on pop-punk anthem. Simple Plan delivered pounding drums, sharp guitars, and that unmistakable early-2000s vibe. Instead of sounding like a TV jingle, it feels like it could’ve been pulled straight from one of their albums. When the show debuted in 2002, the team wanted music that matched the era’s style, so bringing in one of the fastest-rising bands of the moment w

Explaining Vocals on Instagram: "In 2002, Canadian pop-punk band Simple Plan recorded the opening theme for What’s New, Scooby‑Doo?, creating one of the most successful crossovers between animation and rock music. What could have been a standard cartoon intro instead became a full-energy pop-punk track built on distorted guitars, fast tempos, and a hook that felt straight out of early-2000s rock radio. It didn’t sound like a novelty song. It sounded like a real band doing what they did best. At

@insidethejam on Instagram: "Ever notice the Scooby-Doo theme sounds like a full pop-punk track? Simple Plan didn’t phone it in...they went all-out, delivering crunchy guitars and real band energy for the 2002 What’s New, Scooby-Doo? theme. It’s why it still hits like a radio single, not a jingle, decades later. Follow @insidethejam – where music, power & culture collide. #SimplePlan #PopPunk #Music Video: @explaining"
