At least 3000 years old, this detailed dagger-axe (ge) is attributed to the Shang dynasty of ancient China. It is made of jade (nephrite) and features a symmetrically carved, pointed, and slightly curved blade emerging from the mouth of a taotie animal mask, with curved horns in relief and fine threadlike detailing on the eyes, snout, and upper jaw.
