The International Olympic Committee has made clear it will not bar the United States from competing at the upcoming Winter Olympics, despite growing calls to do so following events

In the last Olympics, the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, the U.S. went second-to-last as athletes paraded down the Seine River. The logic there was similar: Los Angeles is hosting the next summer Olympics in 2028.

Just like that, the most incredible streak in the history of the Winter Games was over. Not only is Pinheiro Braathen’s gold the first Winter Olympics medal of any sort that Brazil has ever won, it’s the first medal that any South American nation has brought home from the Winter Olympics.
